Our Swiss friends Beatrice & Tjeerd took us to dinner at a most unique restaurant. The floating 'Salon Theatre Herzbaracke' on Lake Zurich - a tiny house boat decorated inside in an ornate burlesque style.
We entered the restaurant across a small draw bridge and through thick black velvet curtains, to be greeted by a waitress wearing a beautiful crinoline skirt. It felt like we had stepped through a looking glass into the 18th century.
There are only 10 dining tables and a small stage where the entertainment takes place. Last night it was a cello & piano performance of Chopin. The guy on the cello was so emotionally involved with his performance, with every detail reflected on his face, that it felt like we were intruding on his privacy.
And I'm still not sure how the two waitresses manouvered so deftly between the intimate tables in their massive hoop skirts, but it certainly added to the atmosphere.
