Steve's lunch bar

Steve and I were amazed at how many buildings in Pompeii and Herculaneum are still standing, and in relatively good condition. 

Here's Steve playing shop keeper at the local lunch bar in Herculaneum. The marble top and urns are all original. They takeaway food was kept in the urns so it stayed hot for customers.

This town had sewers, running water, hot baths, theatres, footpaths, balconies. It felt so familiar. And normal. Walking into their houses uninvited almost seemed rude.
