Our bolt hole in Provence

Last week, after we finally decided on flight/train times, we tried to find somewhere to stay in Provence for five nights. It wasn't looking good. This week is school holidays (ugh) and everywhere was full. After two hours on the internet I finally found something, in a village I had never heard of. Unfortunately, the place was newly listed, had a sparse description and no reviews - so there was no way of finding out if it was any good, or not.  We took a punt and here we are.

OMG!!! One of those moments where last minute works out. We are in a hill village called Roussillon, surrounded by deep red ochre cliffs. The apartment has a lovely terrace with a view of the village, a dining room, a lounge with open fire, a kitchen that looks like a ship's galley, a huge upstairs master bedroom and ensuite with a view from the bed across the countryside.

It gets better... The owner wanted to make us welcome so she left the pantry and the fridge full of goodies and wine!!!! Sensational.

We were going to drive over to Marseille today but we couldn't be bothered so we just hung around the village and soaked up the atmosphere. Living like locals in Provence.
